Personalized Assistance
Many families feel they need personalized assistance with college and financial aid planning beyond the resources available at their high school. Sometimes, they feel overwhelmed by the process, sometimes they experience conflicts in managing deadlines and completing applications and sometimes they want specific answers to questions such as:
- “What do I do if freshmen and sophomore grades are not as good as junior grades?”
- “Should I send in an art/music portfolio if I don’t intend to major in the subject?”
- “Should I send in my SAT/ACT scores?”
- “Can I ask a freshman year teacher to write my recommendation?”
- “What should I write my personal essay about?”
I’m here to help.
I offer families a full range of services, including the following:
- Guidance in choosing an appropriate high school curriculum and finding and supporting extracurricular activities that are meaningful to the student
- Development of a standardized testing timetable
- Assistance in finding appropriate summer programs throughout the high school years
- Review of financial options, including scholarship and merit aid opportunities
- Preparing a college list and strategies about visiting
- Conducting mock interviews
- Support throughout every step of the college application process, including assistance in preparing effective applications, resumes and essays
- Working on transfer applications, internship searches and post-baccalaureate options
- Assistance with resumes and career planning
Most students will benefit from working with me well before senior year of high school, but I will also take on students in senior year. Although I’m based in the New York City metropolitan area and routinely meet with families throughout the region, I do much of my work through e-mail, Skype and Zoom and have the technology to serve students across the country and around the world. I generally charge by the hour, as I have found that most families prefer that type of payment plan. However, I also offer two comprehensive packages.
